Chef Ken Oringer is one of Boston's most notable chefs. A James Beard Award-winner, Oringer has built an empire of restaurants inspired by his travels around the world: Tsukiji Fish Market-style Uni sashimi bar and Italian enoteca Coppa in Boston; as well as Barcelona tapas bar Toro in Boston and NYC. Jamie Bissonnette is the James Beard Award-winning chef and partner of Boston favorites Coppa, an Italian enoteca, and Toro, the Barcelona-style tapas bar. Toro also has a home in New York City & Bangkok, Thailand. Bissonnette is a winner of the Cochon 555 nose-to-tail competition, and was awarded the inaugural People’s Choice: Best New Chef award by Food & Wine magazine. In May 2014, he was honored with the James Beard Foundation award for Best Chef: Northeast. In 2016, Jamie and Ken debuted Toro Bangkok, as well as Little Donkey, in Cambridge, MA. Hailed as Boston's best kept secret, Toro is a Spanish tapas restaurant and bar that has been serving the South End since 2005. The menu features Barcelona-inspired hot and cold small plates, designed to be served and enjoyed tapas-style. The beverage program features classic-inspired cocktails and an eclectic, carefully curated wine list. Toro is open seven days a week for dinner, serves lunch on the weekdays and features a special brunch on Sunday.
Coppa is an enoteca known for its cozy atmosphere and inventive Italian small plates created by James Beard Award-winning Chefs Jamie Bissonnette and Ken Oringer. The menu boasts a unique charcuterie program as well as pastas and pizzas from a wood burning fire oven. It includes both small and mid-sized plates designed to be shared tapas style amongst guests.
